9:00-9:20 : Children arrive.
Free time at activity centers: Today’s activity centers feature play-dough and drawing

9:20-9:30 : Clean up and prepare for circle time

9:30-9:45 : Circle time !

Songs and rhymes for today include, “When we get together”, “Head shoulders, knees, and toes”, “The name song”, “peanut butter” and “paddy cake”. The theme or “word” of the day is introduced. Today we are talking about daytime and night time, and learning how to say “good night” and good morning in French and English. We also learn the word sun and moon. The magic baton (for taking turns) is passed around the circle and children have an opportunity to tell us about what bedtime is like at their house, as well as what they do when they wake up in the morning.

9:45- 10:10 : Art
Today the children are making chef’s hats to go with our over-arching theme for March, which is food. Tomorrow our chefs will don their new hats and make a collage meal with food photos

10:10-10:20 : Clean up

10:20-10:40 : Snack time
Children usually bring their own snack, but today the teacher’s are helping the children to prepare a special snack as part of our food unit. The snack is quite popular in America and is called, “bugs on a log”. Each child gets a celery stick and teachers help the kids to fill the stick with peanut butter. Than the children place raisins on top of the peanut butter. Voila: Bugs on a log!

10:40-11:10 : Music
According to the day, children are making their own instruments, experimenting with violins or flutes, listening to a special guest, or dancing their hearts out!

11:10-11:20 : Science
Teachers fill clear cups with water and add two drops of food coloring. Then a celery stick is added into each cup, and children watch the celery change color.

11:20-11:35 : Motoricity
Live piano music will accompany as the children make their way through our class obstacle course and tunnels. Children will react very spontaneously to tempo and rythm changes in music, and alter their movements accordingly. We invite them to come to the piano and “play along” as well.

11:35-11:45 : Story time
A happy restful moment that begins with a musical invitation .

11:45-12:00 : Free Play and departure

Children work on puzzles and building blocks. Parents arrive for pick up.

À demain !
